We are seeking candidates who possess a Ph.D. degree and hold preceding degrees (bachelor’s and/or master’s) with a first-class or equivalent qualification in areas of basic sciences (including but not limited to Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Humanities & Social Sciences, Management Studies) and Engineering (including but not limited to Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Medical Sciences and Technology, Mechanical Engineering) with significant contributions in the fields of Data Sciences and Artificial Intelligence.
The Assistant Professor (on contract) provides a unique opportunity to actively contribute to institution-building and establish a long-term career in academia. Initially, appointments will be for three years, potentially extendable to five years based on performance. Successful candidates are expected to engage in high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, advising/mentoring students, participating in institution-building activities, and pursuing their own research interests to enhance the research and development ecosystem at IIT Madras Zanzibar Campus. Additionally, they are expected to engage in community outreach and capacity-building activities. Selected candidates will receive a consolidated salary of 2,500 USD per month along with basic health coverage. They will also receive a professional development allowance for conference travel, professional society memberships, and other research support as per institute norms.
IITM Zanzibar is inviting applications for the position of Assistant Professor (on contract) in Physics, specializing in computational methods. Candidates must hold a PhD in Physics or a closely related field and possess a strong research background with expertise in computational methods. While experience in machine learning and/or big data is advantageous, it is not a requirement. The appointed individual will be responsible for conducting independent research using computational methods in Physics and delivering high-quality undergraduate teaching in the subject. Additionally, they will develop elective courses for both undergraduate and Master’s students.
